I thought I would share my Christmas dinner story.
This year I wanted to have the traditional dinner.
Do you know what people in the UK eat on
Turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy,
and roast vegetables.
Turkey is difficult to get in Japan, and I looked all around
溝の口, 宮崎台, and all around 高津
but after some research I found a shop in
自由が丘 which sold turkey.
The shop is called National Azabu and they have
another shop in 広尾.
After taking the turkey out of the packet and cleaning it,
I was ready to start preparing it.
First thing you need to do is make sure the oven is ready, 190ºC.
Then you need to stuff the turkey.
This is so the turkey keeps the shape and
stays juicy. I stuffed mine with an onion and an orange.
Next I spread olive oil and rosemary over it and wrapped it in aluminium foil.
I put it in the oven for 3 hours until it was almost cooked all the way through,
then I took it out and took off the foil
so that the skin would turn brown and crispy.
Then after 1 more hour in the oven at 170ºC it was ready to eat.
It was a big turkey and there was enough meat to feed 10 people.
Everyone enjoyed it and said it was delicious and it reminded me of
Christmas dinners I had when I was a kid living in Wales.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
Have a great holiday and a
HAPPY NEW YEAR
and we will see you all at CUBES in 2017.
